The gas inside this 'plasma ball' is (or largely is) neon - which has an atomic number of 10
(periodic table here!).
'Neon' comes from the Greek word 'neos', which means new...
I am about to do a new thing;

and rivers in the desert.
...I wonder what new things you might be about to do?
(Though, I struggle to read that passage from Isaiah without imagining 'rivers in the dessert'....)
