Do this in remembrance of me

♫ Agnus Dei - Lamb of God

Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, grant us peace.

On this Sunday, often called 'Good Shepherd Sunday' because of today's Gospel reading from John 10, the words of the 'Agnus Dei' seem especially appropriate.

Stuck inside, but thinking about God's guidance and love, I find myself also reflecting on other love and help I've received... those people who, over the years, have guided, loved, and 'shepherded' me.

I haven't finished identifying everyone yet, but already think I'll try and make it a tradition, each Good Shepherd Sunday, to find time to prayerfully remember and give thanks for all the 'shepherds' in my life.

A suggestion for prayer  - reflecting the words of psalm set for today. They follow the same theme:

Psalm 23

A Psalm of David.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
   He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside still waters;
   he restores my soul.
He leads me in right paths
   for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
   I fear no evil;
for you are with me;
   your rod and your staff—
   they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
   in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
   my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
   all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
   my whole life long.
