'As the night watch looks for the morning,
so do we look for you, O Christ.'
Lines from the end of compline (night prayer).
Words that makes me wonder... what am I looking for at the moment?
And, as we watch hopefully for the dawn of the end of this pandemic, a prayer often used at compline:
Keep watch, dear Lord, with those who work, or watch, or weep this night,
and give your angels charge over those who sleep.
Tend the sick, Lord Christ;
give rest to the weary,
bless the dying, soothe the suffering,
pity the afflicted, shield the joyous;
and all for your love's sake.
Amen.
