Partly in anticipation of Palm Sunday (and making palm crosses!), how about trying some origami?
There are instructions available for almost any animal or shape you can imagine...
When our children were born, we had a string of paper doves in a huge array of bold colours hanging down next to where we changed them, which really grabbed their attention.
That's perhaps the most famous origami shape...and instructions for the doves (or cranes) that we made are here:
