Today the Church remembers St Barnabas...

St Barnabas is often pictured with some or all of - a pilgrim's staff, an olive branch, and the Gospel of Matthew.

Every saint has symbols that can help identify which saint it is, and that mean something about that saint - what they believed, how they died, what they did in the life, etc.

An olive branch for St Barnabas, for example, shows his role in bringing peace in the Early Church.

The saints give us examples we can follow today.
So, using the example of Barnabas' symbols... how about reflecting on what symbols you might be remembered with in years ahead?
What would best fit your life, emphases, and beliefs?
(You can take this further, too...    ...are you happy with those symbols? why?/why not?)

Prayer today?

How about this one... simple, but contains so much:

God of love,
turn our hearts to your ways;
and give us peace.
Amen.
