The Patriarchs - Isaac

Isaac.

Abraham and Sarah's son, perhaps most well known for two things

- laughter, given the idea of Abraham and Sarah having a child in their old age
- the 'binding of Isaac' ...a much darker tale, found in Genesis 22.2-8

In the second, there is an awful lot to unpack.

Despite the shocking nature of the story, though, it's safe to say that the main point is NOT that God would want us to harm another person. (Indeed, many have argued that it never crossed Abraham nor God's minds that Isaac would ever be hurt.)

One message is the extent to which it is possible to love and fear (reverence) God.

So, for prayer today - how about another look at Deuteronomy 6.4-5?

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
