The verse from the icon at Westcott House...
A source of comfort for many Westcott ordinands.
I wonder, today...
...where in the Bible do you find comfort and confidence?
[Photo shows a close up of the Westcott House icon, with the bible showing the words 'Ye have not chosen me but I have chosen you'.]

Doubting and questioning aren't necessarily bad qualities... a healthy dose of scepticism can they can help with inquisitiveness, independence and learning in general.
Why not see if you can learn (or re-learn!) something new today?

Jesus said, 'Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling-places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way to the place where I am going.’ Thomas said to him, ‘Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.

A prayer for our bishop, today:
Almighty God,
the light of the faithful and shepherd of souls,
who set your servant [John] to be a bishop in the Church,
to feed your sheep by the word of Christ
and to guide them by good example:
give us grace to keep the faith of the Church
and to follow in the footsteps
of Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

The night sky also comes to mind:
Jesus showed himself
again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias; and he showed himself in this
way. Gathered there together were Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael
of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his
disciples. Simon Peter said to them, ‘I am going fishing.’ They said to
him, ‘We will go with you.’ They went out and got into the boat, but that
night they caught nothing.
Just after daybreak, Jesus stood on the
beach; but the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to
them, ‘Children, you have no fish, have you?’ They answered him,
‘No.’ He said to them, ‘Cast the net to the right side of the boat, and
you will find some.’ So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it
in because there were so many fish. That disciple whom Jesus loved said
to Peter, ‘It is the Lord!’ When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he
put on some clothes, for he was naked, and jumped into the lake. But the
other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they
were not far from the land, only about a hundred yards off.

And perhaps to prayerfully mull over today...?
Psalm 8.3-4
When I look
at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars that you have established;
what are human beings that you are mindful of them,
mortals that you care for them?
the moon and the stars that you have established;
what are human beings that you are mindful of them,
mortals that you care for them?
